Did you like the pictures? This is our last day here in Hawaii. We don't want to go! We have learned so much and met so many great people. We have got to do so many wonderful things. We all want to stay forever and we have so many friends that we would hate to leave. We have learned about Aloha Week. It is in fall and we went to a spa, to a luau, and we went to hula. Now it is time for us to go, so good-bye.

Meeting A Hawaiian Local

Today we met a Hawaiian local. Her name was Alicia and she goes to Honolulu High School. She told us that she was born on September 19, 1997. Which means she is 14 years old right now. She took us to a luau where we wore leis and did the hula beside the Kai.In other words we went to a feast, wore leis, and did a dance beside the sea. So we had a really good time as well as ate a good meal. During the night we  wore muumuus, or gowns, to sleep in. In the morning we went on a Ala trip, or road trip, to a mauna, or mountain. Then we stood on a pali, or cliff, and looked out on the beautiful island. We decided to explore more of the island . We went to a store and bought clothes made out of kapa, or cloth made from beetin  barley. Then we went to a resturaunt and ate poi, or food made from taro plant. During the evening we went to Alicia's house and sat on her lanai, or porch, and sang a mele, or song, and went to bed for the next day to come.

Hawaii's Top 10 Tourist Attractions

Volcanoes National Park, Big Island We went to Hawaii's top ten tourist attractions today. The most exiting place we went to was Hawaii's Volcano National Park. It was SO cool!!! I wish you were there. At the park  there is about 3 million visitors per year! You get to see Hawaii's most active volcano Kilauea!! I think that was the most awesome trip ever!!! Hanauma Bay, Oahu
Another place is the USS Arizona Memorial. There you go see the remains of the USS Arizona's mid-section of the sunken battleship. This ship was sunken in the Pearl Harbor attack.I thought it was pretty cool.
I love this next one! It is Haleakala National Park. There you would go and see the pretty scenery there. It preserves the volcanic area of Maui. It is lined by waterfalls and freshwater pools.USS Arizona Memorial, Oahu
The next one is   awesome!! The name of this area is called Hanauma Bay Nature Preserve. Here the bay has been through drastic changes. It has been damaged by years of excessive use and neglect.
This next one is a state monument called the Diamond Head State Monument. It has been Hawaii's most famous landmark. There you can dig for diamonds. Diamonds are very valuable. So that is one of the Diamond Head State Monumnet, Oahureasons that it is a popular tourist attraction.
Also, this next one is very exotic. This one is called Puuhonua o Honaunau National Historic Park. It is located on the Big Island. You can see archaeological sites and reconstructions of the "Place of Refuge." This was once a royal home. Some things you could do here is the self guided tour, taking pictures of the many green sea turtles, tanning on the beach, and playing a game of kônane.
Puuhonua o Honaunau National Historical Park, Big Island
This next place is so spectacular. You got to see the Kilauea Point National Wildlife Refuge. There you got to go discover Hawaii's wildlife as you explore the refuge, such as the Pacific golden plover, Laysan albatross, and Hawaii's State Bird (the nene). Just off shore you might glimpse humpback whales (in winter months), Hawaiian monk seals, and spinner dolphins. These animals are native to Hawaii.  We discovered an unknown bird and we named it  The Flying Worm. You have to have good sight to see this bird.Kilauea Point National Wildlife Refuge lighthouse, Kauai
Another awesome spot is The Panaewa Rain forest Zoo, located on the Big Island.  The Panaewa Rain forest Zoo is also considered a botanical garden covered with orchids, bamboos, 100 varieties of palms, and a water garden. The Panaewa Zoo, about 4 miles from Hilo. Must-do's are: go to the petting zoo the white Bengal tiger  fed daily, and the gift shop.
The next stop is the Waimea Arboretum and Botannical Garden. Some things you must do are follow the sunlit paths, explore the gardens, and visit the crystal clear pool below Waihi Falls. Also, you might want to Waimea Valley Audubon Center, the Waimea Arboretum and Botanical GardenHawaii State Bird, Neneknow that over 150,000 guests per year do these things. Things you must do are: have a picnic, and visit the Waimea Valley Audubon Center. It  is  located in the gorgeous Waimea Valley on the island of Oahu.
Waimea Canyon, Kauai     The next one is Waimea Canyon is the awe-inspiring, breath-taking "Grand Canyon of the Pacific." There you can see the deep canyon gashes in the landscape that look like the claw marks of some immense prehistoric creature. The play of light and shadow throughout the day on the colorful striated layers of rock is extraordinary. Also, there you can overlook and watch the reaction of visitor after visitor, as their jaws drop, and they become first speechless and then breathless as they witness this spectacle of nature for the first time, realizing that words fail them and that there must be a God. So see you guys later...Haleakala National Park, Maui

We have ate macadamian nuts and drank coffee all day. We have gone to do surfing lessons and we went to see the Diamond Head. Right now we are relaxing on the beaches of Hawaii.

On our way to Hawaii

Hello, our names are Hali, Madison, and Deanna! We are on our way to Hawaii to research the culture of this beautiful, volcanic vacation island. Here are some interesting facts we already know about Hawaii. It is in the middle of the Pacific Ocean.
It was the 50th state to join the United States. They have an average temperature of 84 degrees F to 87 degrees F in the summer and an average temperature of 70 degrees F to 73 degrees in the winter. They have an average population of 1,306,301 people. Some things we are interested in doing are seeing the volcanic islands, go to a luau or a feast, and explore each and every one of the islands. Some things we want to learn about Hawaii are learn how to say hello in Hawaiian, learn more about the culture and history that lies beneath the Hawaiian waves, and learn the language of the Hawaiian people. Until we reach the islands see you later…
